Your Pregnancy, Photographed at Your Pace

Maternity photoshoot in Bali that moves at your pace, not a checklist

A pregnancy photoshoot in Bali runs on your body's schedule, not a shot list. Some weeks you can walk to three locations. Other weeks one is plenty. Neither needs to feel like a compromise.

How it works

What a Bali maternity photoshoot actually involves

You show up, move as much or as little as feels comfortable, and sit down whenever you need to. I handle the rest.

A pregnancy photoshoot in Bali with me runs 1 to 4 hours depending on your package, timed around sunrise or the last hour before sunset, when natural light is softer and more flattering outdoors. I don't build a shot list and march you through it. I watch how you're actually moving that day and adjust the session around you.

You don't need to know how to pose. I'll give you direction when it helps, where to put your hands, how to turn toward the light, when to move, and step back when the frame is already working.

Some couples want two or three outdoor locations. Others want the whole session indoors, at a Bali studio, out of the heat and away from anyone watching. Both are common bookings and both get the same attention.

Timing

When to book your session

Most of the maternity sessions I photograph happen between 28 and 34 weeks. By then the bump usually photographs clearly, while many clients still feel comfortable enough for an outdoor session. If you're booking after 36 weeks, that's not a problem, just plan on fewer locations and shorter walks between them.

If the forecast turns against you, we can wait until it passes, move to a covered location, or reschedule to another time or day. If you'd rather not reschedule, your deposit is refunded in full. For sessions booked well ahead, we talk through a backup plan before the date arrives rather than scrambling on the morning of.

6:30 – 8:30 AM

Softer light, empty locations, cooler air before the heat sets in.

5:00 – 6:30 PM, Golden hour

Warmer tones, better for beach and rice terrace backdrops.

Studio vs. shooting outdoors

Studio means air-conditioning, privacy, controlled light, easier outfit changes, and almost no walking. Outdoors gives you Bali itself: beaches, rice terraces, jungle, and changing natural light. If heat, walking, privacy, or weather are concerns, studio is usually the easier option, and it can be added to any package from US$365 / IDR 6.5M.

Beaches

Shorter walks and open, breezy shots, but midday heat and reflected light are stronger there than anywhere else.

Rice terraces

More walking on uneven paths, best done in the cooler morning window, and reward you with the green backdrop most people picture.

Jungle & waterfalls

Shaded and cooler than a beach, but with roots and wet stone underfoot that call for sturdier footwear.

Wardrobe

What to wear

01 Flowing or fitted maternity dresses in neutral or earthy tones work especially well against Bali's green and blue backdrops
02 Avoid solid black outdoors unless it's a fitted silhouette or fabric with enough shape to keep the bump defined
03 Bring a second outfit if you're shooting near water or sand; wind and spray get into everything
04 Partners in light linen keep the frame balanced without competing with the mother-to-be
05 Barefoot works for beach and terrace locations; sandals are easier for uneven jungle paths

What clients say

"We booked the Bahagia package for my 30-week session at a rice terrace near Ubud. Our flight got in late the night before so I was running on maybe four hours of sleep, but the early morning light made up for it. My husband kept getting mud on his white shirt and wouldn't stop laughing about it. Photos came back within the five days promised, no complaints there."

Genevieve Ashcroft, Melbourne, Australia

"honestly wasn't sure a beach shoot was a good idea at 33 weeks lol. the walk to the spot took longer than i expected and i needed two sit-down breaks. but the actual photos are gorgeous, my mother in law cried when she saw them. wish i'd brought better sandals though, the sand was rough on my feet"

Min-seo Kwak, Seoul, South Korea

"I chose a studio session over an outdoor one, mostly because I wanted air-conditioning and no crowds watching me change outfits. Andi was patient through all my outfit changes and even fixed my hair between shots without me asking. Genuinely relaxed two hours, and the gallery arrived exactly when promised."

Rasheed Talvani, Singapore

Planning a newborn photoshoot in Bali next

A newborn photoshoot in Bali runs shorter than a maternity session and works best at home or in a studio, since a newborn's schedule doesn't bend around sunrise light the way a maternity session can. Mention it in your inquiry if you're already planning that far ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Can my partner join the session?

Yes, most maternity bookings include a partner, and many include an older child too. Mention who's joining in your inquiry so I can plan outfits and timing around the full group.

Can I combine an outdoor location with a studio session on the same booking?

Yes, this works best with the Istimewa package, which gives enough time to shoot outdoors early and move to studio light later without rushing either half.

Do you provide maternity dresses, or do I need my own?

Outfits aren't provided. Bring your own; most clients bring one flowing dress for outdoor shots and a simpler backup in case of wind, sand, or water. A stylist can be added from US$15 / IDR 270K if you want help choosing.

What happens if I go into early labor before my booked date?

Contact me as soon as you know and we'll talk through rescheduling. Maternity bookings are planned with that possibility in mind.

Is walking on uneven ground, like rice terrace paths, doable this late in pregnancy?

It depends on how you're feeling that week, and every pregnancy is different. If you have any doctor-flagged mobility concerns, tell me in your inquiry so we can pick a flatter route or move the session to a studio.

Can older children be part of the session?

Yes, siblings are welcome to join. Mention it in your inquiry so the timeline accounts for a child's attention span.

Book your session

Tell me your due date, how many weeks along you'll be on your travel dates, and whether you're picturing outdoor light or studio control. I'll build the route around what actually works for where you are in the pregnancy.
