What a Bali swing photoshoot with Wildaya actually is

I photograph you. I do not run the swing and I do not rent gowns. You pay the park for entry and for the dress if you want one, and that cost sits outside my fee. No markup and no bundling; those costs stay separate from my photography fee.

The swing works best as one stop inside a longer photo trip. Clients often pair it with rice terraces, a temple, and a quiet corner of Ubud that has no queue at all. We can shoot the swing first while the light is soft, mid-route once you have warmed up, or last when the crowd thins.

How the day runs

  1. We plan the route. You tell me your base and your timing; I pick the swing site and the surrounding stops so travel time stays short.
  2. Early start. We begin before the busiest part of the day wherever the site allows it, when the light is soft and the queues are short.
  3. Ticket and gown at the counter. Gown prices and what each ticket covers vary by park, and some include rental. I confirm the current options before your session.
  4. Harness check. Staff fit the required safety equipment. I then choose angles and poses that keep it as unobtrusive as possible.
  5. We shoot. Stills, plus video and drone frames if you added them and the site allows it.
  6. We move on. Rice fields, a temple gate, a river path, depending on the package.

What to wear, from someone who edits the results

The gown lifts, and the wind decides when.

Fabric

Fabric decides how the dress moves. Lightweight polyester and rayon tend to catch air and float; heavier linen and cotton usually give you far less movement.

Color

Color comes second. Red, yellow, mustard, and cream separate cleanly from green canopy. Olive, brown, and gray vanish into it. Bright white can lose texture in direct tropical sun, while off-white is usually more forgiving against deep green backgrounds.

Practical layer

Practical layer: wear cycling shorts or swimwear underneath. The gown lifts, and the wind decides when. Sandals with a heel strap stay put; loose flip-flops are a bad match for a swing. Tie long hair back before the first push, skip dangling jewelry, and carry a long-train gown over your shoulder while walking so it arrives clean.

Who books this

Solo travelers who have nobody to hold the camera. Couples on a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or an ordinary Bali vacation who want one frame worth printing. Mothers and daughters traveling together. Content creators who need usable footage, not phone video shot into the sun.

If you are also considering a floating dress or a flying dress photoshoot in Bali, we can usually build it into the same route. We can shoot both in one morning. If you want quieter frames alongside the swing, the lifestyle session covers cafés, villas, and street corners. Traveling as a group? See family sessions. If you are traveling solo and want something for work or personal use, see portrait sessions.

What clients said afterward

"Flight from Perth was delayed six hours so we got to Ubud at 2am and I genuinely thought I'd cancel. Andi moved us to 8:15 instead. Only gripe, the drive was longer than I'd budgeted for and my husband complained the entire way. He stopped once he saw the drone shots."

- Rowena Talbot, Australia

"i rented the yellow gown and it was too long for me, my fault entirely, not his. he worked around it. what i didn't expect was how much i liked the rice field photos afterward, honestly better than the swing ones. mum has one framed in her hallway now and she never frames anything."

- Sanne Vluggen, Netherlands

"Booked the 2 hour package. Wish I'd taken the 4. We ran out of time before the temple stop and that's on me for oversleeping. Files landed the next day, sharp, properly graded, nothing like the phone shots being taken next to us. Worth the money."

- Idris Boateng, United Kingdom

Questions people ask before booking

Can you shoot at any swing site, or only certain ones?

Policies vary by site. Some allow outside photographers freely, while others charge a fee or restrict professional cameras or drones. I check the current rules with the operator before your date to reduce the chance of surprises at the gate.

Does the harness ruin the photos?

It depends on the site. Some use a lap strap that sits low and hides easily under a gown; others use a full body harness worn over clothing, which is visible. I frame around it and minimize its appearance in editing where practical.

Can two of us swing together?

Tandem swings exist at several parks. Ask me when booking and I will steer the route toward one, since not every site has them.

What if it rains?

Operators suspend swinging in unsafe conditions. We can wait until it passes, swap the route order so we shoot covered locations first, or reschedule to another time or day. If you'd rather not reschedule, your deposit is refunded in full.

Do you shoot video as well as stills?

Yes. Videography is an add-on from US$200, and a videographer shoots alongside me on the same route. Add it when you inquire so we plan the gear and the timing at each stop.

Is there a weight or age limit?

Weight and age limits are set by each operator and differ between sites, with staff fitting the harness on arrival. I check the current rules for the swing site before your session.
